If you haven't read 'The Glass Bead Game', one of the ideas is that all art, science and music can be reduced to basic concepts that traverse all disciplines. Like Einstein chasing the Unified Field Theory, the monks in the story are pursuing pivotal, transcendental concepts which they demonstrate in the playing of the game. Interestingly, I read awhile ago how the Vedas of the Hindus, some of the most ancient writings in the world, contain concepts very similar to the most advanced, abstract theoretical physics.

In this piece I was making a game where the viewer doesn't know the rules, can only imagine the game play. Is the game over or has it yet to start? Red, blue, green and yellow are used symbolically, but like road signs that have faded their meaning can only be inferred.

The light is theatrical, echoing snooker halls, the shaded light of the card table.

Everywhere there are clues but no conclusions.
